Is my child eligible for Early Intervention services?
If you or a healthcare provider is concerned about your child’s development, ask your Doctor to share details on early intervention programs to find out if services might benefit your child. You can also reach out yourself as a medical provider referral is not necessary. Contact Early Intervention System at 888-653-4463. The call is toll-free for residents of New Jersey.
All eligibility criteria for early intervention services is based on a personnel evaluation of your child’s abilities.
- If your child is under age 3: Call your state or territory’s early intervention program (see contacts below) and say: “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if he/she is eligible for early intervention services.”
- If your child is age 3 or older: Call any local public elementary school (even if your child does not go to school there) and inform them of the concerns regarding your child’s development. You can ask for the district’s special education director/personnel.
